Penny Billings is the Market President of Cadence Bank. A Northerner by birth and a Southerner by choice, Penny grew up in White Plains, New York, and attended St. Lawrence University. After graduation, she started moving South locating in Washington DC. There she started her career in the financial services industry. With over 40 years of experience in the banking industry, Penny has built a distinguished career marked by dedication and leadership.
Penny met her husband Jay Billings while working in DC. After an 8-year courtship – she moved to Alabama to marry Jay in 1986. She quickly engaged in the Community – Chairing and supporting may civic organizations. – notably – The United Way, The Better Business Bureau, Huntsville Botanical Garden, The American Red Cross.
She currently serves on The Boards of The Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Alabama, The Community Foundation, and the Board of Trustees of Crestwood Hospital. She enjoys walking, traveling and boat time on Lake Guntersville.
In the first year of the Cancer Gala in 2005 Penny, a then recent breast cancer survivor, was honored to be the first honoree with her dear friend Middie Thompson serving as Chair – 5 years later she served as Chair of the event.
Cancer is close to her heart having lost her mother, grandparents, and two aunts to the disease. It remains close to her family with her husband, brothers and stepdaughter all currently survivors!
She is passionate about the cause and the advances in treatments just since she started her cancer journey.
